4 Root Causes For Your IBS And How It Causes Stubborn Weight Issues

You probably don't know but IBS goes hand-in-hand with sluggish/fatty liver and is causing a war in your body and problems with cortisol. You know from my videos that cortisol causes that stubborn belly fat and weight gain even when you are on a zero carb diet

1 - Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth SIBO

Here are the most common symptoms of the various SIBO types many of which overlap with those of IBS:

  • Bloating within one hour after meals
  • Chronic diarrhea or constipation or alternating constipation and diarrhea
  • Burping or reflux after meals
  • Stomach gurgling and discomfort or cramping

2 Intestinal Hyperpermeability Leaky Gut

When you have a "leaky gut" it's like the doors are open between your intestines from your bloodstream. Macro-molecules of food toxins and pathogens that normally aren't allowed through now flow freely into your bloodstream making your immune system wake up and start fighting. This is called an inflammatory immune response and causes all sorts of GI symptoms. And inflammation goes hand in hand with the worst hormone imbalances symptoms and stubborn weight

3 Dysbiosis of the Gut Microbiome

Often the result of antibiotics a dysbiosis is difficult to detect using standard testing. After all there is often nothing to find but actually THERE'S A HUGE PROBLEM. It is a lack of diversity and numbers of beneficial bacteria that leads to the gradual onset of IBS-type symptoms and for sure stubborn and unexplained weight gain. Regular stool tests at the doctors office can tell if there are no particularly bad bugs hanging out down there.

4 - Gut infections

While this isn't an exhaustive list parasites bacteria and fungi/yeast are the most common gut infections and the ones I specialize in treating.

Travel food poisoning or an outbreak in your town's water supply can all give you nasty bugs. Pathogens are just a normal part of life. It's whether your immune system is strong enough to fight them off that we need to be talking about.
