Orange Spinach Smoothie

One cup of fresh spinach leaves you add in your smoothie provides almost 200 percent of the daily recommended vitamin K. Vitamin K prevents osteoclast activation, an activity that breaks down bones. It also stimulates osteocalcin activity, which anchors calcium molecules inside of bones.

This bone building power is complemented by spinach’s two essential bone-building minerals: calcium and magnesium. Raw spinach also contains higher proportions of the antioxidant gluathione and vitamin C than cooked spinach.

Did you know that citrus fruit supercharges any smoothie containing raw spinach? Citric acid increases your body's ability to absorb many of spinach’s beneficial nutrients including iron. If you make a spinach smoothie, add a little of orange or lemon juice for increased nutrient absorption.

Blend:

  • ½ cup Coconut milk
  • 1 peeled Orange
  • 2 cups Spinach
  • 1 Kale leaf
  • ½ cup frozen Fruits or frozen Peaches
  • 4 Ice cubes
  • Stevia (optional, you can add a couple of drops if you like)
