The Power of Leafy Greens

Green plants are among our strongest weapons for detoxing.  Their amazing alkalinity helps get the poison we consume out of us. They provide us with all the minerals that we need for health, nutrition and beauty.

Did you know they give us all the vitamins and amino acids that we need to build protein?  If we eat plenty of greens, and get a good variety of them in our diet, we get a very wide spectrum of vitamins, minerals and enzymes. Eating plants is like eating pure Nature's energy and pure mineral content straight from the Earth!

Dill and parsley are some of my favorite herbs!  Not only is dill great cooked on salmon and potatoes, but uncooked its a fresh, savory addition to colslaw, cabbage salad, green salads and cold potato salads.  If you are one of the people who can't stand celantro, add parsley to your fresh pico de gallo and salsas.  It looks just like celantro, adds a fresh layer of flavor, and avoids the unpleasant taste some people experience.

I love spinach in smoothies and salads.  Just a handful of spinach blends into most smoothies without effecting its flavor, but adding a wealth of minerals and fiber.  Its a softer, thicker green than lettuce, but brings a unique flavor to uncommon salads you can serve to suprise guests and mix family dinners up.  Try mixing spinach, cranberries, pumpkin seeds and crumbled raw goat cheese together with a salad dressing seasoned with orange juice to compliment your heavy Thanksgiving dinner.  Look out for my recipe later this fall!
