Seed Cycling for Hormonal Balance

Help your your body naturally balance its hormones by using different seeds during the different phases of your monthly cycle. You can add pumpkin, flax, sunflower, or sesame seeds to the diet at the right time and it will help your your body to produce and eliminate certain hormones. It will make you feel better and healthier plus all the seeds are soo good for beautiful skin, hair and nails!

Phase 1: Days 1-14

Day 1 of your cycle is the day that menstruation begins. The two weeks that follow make up the follicular phase, during which you will use pumpkin seeds and flax seeds. They give your body omega-3 fatty acids for healthy cells.  Also flax seeds contain lignans which block excess estrogen.  The combination of pumpkin and flax seeds during phase 1 of your cycle helps to balance estrogen in the body. Take 2 Tablespoons daily of raw pumpkin and flax seeds. Make sure to grind the seeds before consuming to help their absorption by your intestines.

Phase 2: Days 15-28

Ovulation starts Phase 2 of your cycle around day 15 and your body transitions from estrogen to progesterone production. During this phase sesame seeds and sunflower seeds support your natural balance and the production of hormones in your body.  Sesame seeds help to block excess estrogen and sunflower seeds help produce progesterone and have selenium, a trace mineral that helps the liver detox.  Take 2 Tablespoons daily of raw sesame seeds and sunflower seeds preferably ground.
